Paul reveals his pastor’s heart as he appeals to the Galatians to realize how foolish is the path on which they are embarking. Understanding that we, too, can be tempted down that same path, we look at the points Paul makes to the Galatians and apply them to ourselves:

  • There was a time when we were enslaved under elementary principles of this world, to things that are not gods
  • It was while we were in this condition that God saved us, set us free and made us His own
  • How then, can we now turn back to the things that originally enslaved us, to obey them again?
  • If we do turn, all that has been done for us by those who ministered Christ to us may have been in vain and we will be more culpable on the Day of Judgment, since we are sinning against greater light.

We are urged not to follow the example of the Galatians, but to cleave to Christ and seek grace from Him to persevere in our faith.
