Jesus speaks to prepare His disciples and Apostles for the hatred they would receive from the world on account of Him. He gives them the following instruction:
- The opposition and hatred they face is part of the price of being a true believer and being made like Christ.
- They should not fear those who oppose them but rather trust in the Lord. He is in control of their time and circumstances and everything He has planned is for the good of His people.
- They should understand that there will be justice for all who hate them and persecute them - sometimes in this world but certainly in the next.
- Therefore they should be faithful to declare everything they have heard from Christ, trusting in Him to do what is right for His brothers and sisters.
This teaching is applied to believers today. We are encouraged not to fear man but to do all the will of God, gladly enduring any consequences that may come upon us.
