We begin to look at Christ’s office as The Prophet by examining this wonderful passage of Scripture. We see Him as the One chosen by God and beloved by Him. We see Him in His humanity, needing the support of God and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. His gentleness in dealing with His people is portrayed for us as we see Him neither breaking the bruised reed nor quenching the smoldering wick.
Finally, we see Him called by the Father to be a light to the nations. This is the call to His prophetic role but we understand that each of us who are His children have a part to play in fulfilling this call of Christ - it is through us that His Gospel is now proclaimed to the lost. We are to seek Him for the opportunities and the grace we need to proclaim Christ to those who are perishing.
