As Paul closes his letter to Rome, he warns against the power of Satan in dividing churches. He warns the church against those who may come in among them, with smooth and flattering speech, but teaching things that do not agree with the doctrine they had learned. Although his major focus is on unbelievers who may deceive unsuspecting church members, we are also to watch out for these things from believers who have been misled.

We see three things in this passage:

  • The nature of the problem
  • The solution to the problem
  • The victory God promises to those who faithfully deal with this challenge and maintain their unity and peace in the face of Satan’s attacks
