Moving on in this glorious argument, we come to a comparison of Adam and Christ as the heads of two covenants. We see Adam as the head of the covenant of works, representing all mankind and in his sin, bringing condemnation and death to himself and all his descendants. Then we look at Christ, representing all those God had given to Him, and through the cross, bringing them to eternal life.
We are all urged to consider which of these covenant heads (federal heads) we are now under, Adam or Christ. If under Adam, and so facing all the condemnation he brought upon us, we are urged to run to Christ for forgiveness and to receive through Him all the blessings of the covenant of grace.
