We consider three themes from this text that relate to John Bunyan’s work, ‘‘Pilgrim’s Progress’’ which we will consider in the evening lecture

  • First, what our calling is from God.
  • Second, what our incentive is to pursue this calling.
  • And third, what our purpose should then be in life.

We see that we must believe God’s Word strongly enough to journey towards the better land of our inheritance in Christ. We must want to be with God strongly enough to desire heaven no matter what we might have to face on earth. The only way we will want heaven this strongly is if we’re trusting in Christ. These things can only be undertaken through faith.
